Welcome to Mydivelocker Scubacelt !
I've not dived the Alistor myself but it is a very popular shore dive with a wreck involved. Viz tends to be fairly poor I believe but seems a fun dive nonetheless.
For more info have a goo at ...

Hi Tommsy,
I am just reading the post and would be available for a dive in Strangford. But I see you will be there at 1 pm and driving and packing would take me there at 3 pm. So sorry I can't make it in time.
Probably available for any other dive in or North to Dublin this week (no, I am not a teacher , just happened to take this week off)
Cheers
Wilco

Yep, sorry for the last minute change
I found out early that I could possibly go - so rang another friend to see if he was interested, He was but wasnt sure if he could or not - hence the delay to confirm..
We eventually set off, I left lucan around 11 am, met him he had to collect his kit and reconfigure it, anyway, we got to the motorway just before newry and had over a delay in traffic - a huge amount of southern cars doing their shopping (I think our government would seriously need to cop on with the tax rates over here, were loosing a fortune!)
Didnt end up getting to ringahiddy till about 4pm!
Anyway - there was 2 lads packing up and when asked about the viz, they said not great about 4m - I said whoppeee, If we get that I would be happy. And we did
All in all a good dive, long day though traffic along the way home also - didnt get home till around 9pm!

Hi Tom,
Let me do the calculation for you ( i am good at it ;-), 11:00 departure, 21:00
home, that is 10 hours just for one dive. You could have gone to Donegal to do a dive like this ! However, i read about the Alastor, and i am sure in the end, it was worth every minute. Probably also good that i did not join because i would have hold you back (at the moment with my experience, I would not go into the wreck)

The Irish government can use an old invention for this ... a Toll Plaza and call it a Tax Plaza. In my opinion Ireland has become too expensive and it should and it will be corrected in the near future (if people have less money and the shops wants to keep selling they have too).
Cheers

Dont even mention the word toll Plaza - they will here it shhhhhh..
In relation to me diving and driving, anyone who knows me will know that I will drive anywhere to dive, have done and will do - Ive had weekends where I would start in Johns point in Donegal and end up in Cork 3 days later and thats not starting or finnishing in Dublin before and after!!
Even this weekend gone - I set out at 5.30am in Dublin and did 2 Dives in Killary (conemarra) than drove home sat evening got home around 10.00 pm, than went to the Alastair on Monday!!
Mayb they are right - I am mad. Doh!!
